Echo Dot (3rd Gen)
We are definitely late to the party on this one! We only recently joined the Alexa family, with our purchase of the Echo Dot (3rd Gen), and I can honestly say that the whole family is loving it. You can never have too many gadgets, right?
So, what gives the Echo Dot the edge over other small speakers?
It is more than just a speaker for playing music, it is more like having your own personal assistant on hand 24/7. You can ask it for news and weather updates for any location, to check your calendar for you, to add something to your shopping list, and a lot more.
If you emptied all of the drawers in our house, I would guess there would be at least 10 mini speakers, but none of them quite live up to the Echo Dot. We definitely have a little bit of a problem when it comes to gadgets.
One of my favourite things about Alexa and the Echo Dot, is that I can request a song even when I can’t think of the name of the song e.g. I might be in the kitchen making my lunch when I want to listen to Westlife’s new song. I can just shout into the sitting room: ‘Alexa, play Westlife’s new song’, and as if by magic she will know exactly what I am talking about.
My other half Brian loves the fact that he can show off his general knowledge skills (or lack there of), by just shouting: ‘Alexa, play trivia hero’.
Our 4 year old Ellie, loves asking Alexa to tell her a joke or to play some dance music for her little brother.
