Our Eurocamp Stay at Terme Čatež: Slovenia’s Best-Kept Family Holiday Secret

Every now and then, a holiday comes along that’s so good, you almost don’t want to share it because you want to keep it all to yourself. That’s exactly how we felt about our stay at Terme Čatež with Eurocamp in Slovenia.

But it’s too good not to share.

This place isn’t just a campsite it’s a full-on waterpark resort experience with all the freedom and flexibility that comes with a Eurocamp stay. If you’re looking for an affordable European escape with non-stop fun for the kids, space for the adults to breathe, and serious wow-factor — keep reading.

We stayed in a Premium 2 bedroom holiday home that sleeps up to 5 guests, and honestly? It exceeded every expectation.

Think:

  • Spacious layout that actually felt like a home-from-home
  • Covered decking with outdoor dining space and a BBQ
  • Stunning mountain views and peaceful surroundings
  • Air-conditioning that actually worked (essential in the summer heat)
  • Not overlooked, with loads of privacy and space to relax

We’ve done a lot of self-catering stays over the years, and this was up there with the best. Eurocamp have really thought of everything — it’s clean, modern, and has that balance of being part of a lively resort, without feeling cramped or chaotic. Whether you’re travelling with toddlers, tweens or teens, there’s room to spread out, eat in or out, and enjoy those quiet early mornings or chilled-out evenings without feeling like you’re on top of each other.

This is where Terme Čatež really shines.

The Thermal Riviera outdoor waterpark is a holiday highlight in itself — and it’s INCLUDED when you stay with Eurocamp.

Picture this:

  • Giant water slides that rival any top-tier theme park
  • A wave pool that had the kids racing back in line every few minutes
  • A lažy river for floating blissfully in the sun
  • A huge inflatable obstacle course on the water — fun for every age
  • Multiple snack bars, shaded chill-out zones, and grassy areas for sunbathing or
    playing

We genuinely spent days here and still didn’t run out of things to do. It’s bright, colourful, safe, and brilliantly designed. Whether your kids are daredevil slide-lovers or prefer gentle splash zones, there’s something for everyone.

And on cooler days, you can head next door to the Indoor Thermal Riviera — which includes thermal pools, a jacuzzi, saunas, and the famous pirate ship playground. It’s like having a second waterpark on standby.

Important note: You can access one of the two (indoor or outdoor) each day but not both in the same day.

Beyond the Pools: The Resort That Has It All

What surprised us most is just how much is going on within the Terme Čatež resort itself. It’s so much more than a campsite — it’s a full-on destination in its own right.

Here’s just a taste:

  • A large funfair with rides, bumper cars, and games
  • Onsite shops, cafe s, bakeries and a handy supermarket
  • A great choice of restaurants, from fast food to sit-down options
  • A wellness centre and spa (if you’re lucky enough to sneak away!)
  • Bike hire and loads of open green space for adventures
  • Multiple hotels onsite, which adds to the resort atmosphere

You never have to leave the site if you don’t want to — it’s the kind of place that really feels like a little world of its own. We loved the energy of it, especially in the evenings when families strolled around after dinner, kids ran free, and the lights of the funfair twinkled in the background.

Day Trips & Hidden Gems Nearby

That said, Slovenia is stunning, and we highly recommend venturing out if you have time.

Brežice – A lovely local town just 5 minutes away. Grab a coffee, visit the castle, and soak in the atmosphere.
Lake Bled – About 1hr 40 mins away, and absolutely magical. Crystal-clear lake, island church, and mountain backdrop. Worth the drive.
Ljubljana – Slovenia’s capital is compact, cool and full of charm. A perfect family day out.
Zagreb – Since you’re flying through here, you might as well add a day to explore Croatia’s quirky, colourful capital.
