Sandy Feet Farm, Camp, Tralee, Co. Kerry
If you’re looking for things to do in Kerry with kids, make sure you add this to the top of your list.
No visit to Co. Kerry is complete without taking a spin out to Sandy Feet Farm. This family run pet farm is located on the main Tralee to Dingle road in a rural setting near the village of Camp. It is quite possibly one of the most picturesque pet farms in Ireland, surrounded by mountains and boarded by wetlands and a long, wide sandy beach.
During your visit to the farm you will have the opportunity to feed the various rare breed animals, explore the farm, play in the playground, take a tractor-trailer ride, check out the vintage machinery, race around the go-kart track, discover the new sensory garden, and eat in the fabulous onsite café.
Top tip: Be sure to arrive hungry so you can treat yourself in the onsite café. The café serves freshly ground espresso based coffees, hot chocolate and flavoured teas. All of their scones, breads and cakes are produced from a local award-winning baker. With a mind for healthy but tasty, hearty food, the menu offers soups, salads (with homemade dressings), and sandwiches with something for everybody. The children’s menu also features healthy options – freshly made, baked wedges and goujons, home-made dips and pitta bread, and soup. Don’t forget to leave room for dessert, they have a range of delicious cakes and an ice-cream machine too.
We spent a rainy summer’s afternoon in Sandy Feet Farm recently and had an absolute blast. The staff were all so welcoming and friendly and you could really see how much they love and care for each and every one of the animals on the farm.
Both of our kids are already asking when they can go back to Sandy Feet Farm again to see all of the animals and play in the sensory garden.
The kids both agreed that their favourite things about the farm were being allowed to hold the small animals, cooking up a storm in the mud kitchens in the sensory garden, jumping on the new water pillow and the scrumptious cakes they enjoyed in the café.
This was our second visit to Sandy Feet Farm and it definitely will not be our last.
